My amateur dramatics group seems to have stagnated a little of late. We meet up every Thursday, regardless of whether we’re rehearsing or not, and it’s just got a bit dull. I was trying to think up ways to liven up the meetings when I fell upon the plan to do theatre trips. Birmingham has some great shows, and there’s plenty of other amateur shows around which we could go and see.

I decided to take on the organisation of the trips, so looked at what was on and looked into coach hire. There were lots of firms about, but they were all very expensive and the financial reserves of a local group like ours doesn’t stretch very far!
