120 jobs could be created in new store development

Posted on April 21st, 2011 by charlie

There will be more chances for recruitment in Stafford as around 120 jobs could be on offer with the opening of a new household good and garden centre. The development will be at an empty warehouse at City Road, Fenton. If the plans are approved then 100 to 120 people could be taken on for full time employment.

The application states that the company looking to develop the property is The Range. However, Chris Dawson from the Range denied the company’s interest in the site, but RPS, a London based company who represent the retailer has confirmed that the planning application is correct.

A representative from the planning consultancy company RPS, Karen Ellesley said: “The existing Tile Clearing House unit will remain in operation and does not form part of the application. The proposed occupier is considered to be entirely appropriate at this location and will complement the existing Tile Clearing House operation.”

She added: “The warehouse element of the site has been vacant for a considerable amount of time and the application proposals will ensure the unit is brought back into active economic use. The proposed occupier will also create a considerable number of job opportunities.”

Secretary of the Joiners Squares Residents’ Association, Nicola Craggs said: “It’s good news if it will create that number of jobs in this area. I think a garden centre would be a really good addition. “There are some nice nurseries around the area but nothing too close to here so it adds another dimension to the retail on offer in Fenton.” The Range began trading at market stalls in 1980 and now has 49 stores across the UK.

Scaffolding Help

Posted on February 18th, 2011 by charlie

I have been working as a builder for nearly 30 years now, but there are still certain things that I have to ask for help with. Whenever I have to work at a high storey or need some help with scaffolding, I always call on www.scaffoldingcontractorsnewcastleunderlyme.co.uk. Sometimes it’s better to talk to specialists, and I would much rather be a master of my trade than a jack of all trades. I only need scaffolding from time to time, so there’s no point in investing in things like that when there are companies who can provide the service that you need.

My Brother’s Stag Do

Posted on January 7th, 2011 by charlie

When my brother told me that he was getting married, I was so excited. Not for the wedding, but for the stag do! We’re brothers but we’re also best friends, so I knew that I was first choice for best man, and that it was my responsibility to arrange the best stag weekend ever. We decided that we’d stay in the area, but I had the bright idea of having a big party rather than just your run of the mill stag do. We have lived in the same village our whole lives, and we have so many friends that we could never get them all out on the town together. We’d never get into any clubs! I decided to hire the local church hall out and decorate it for my brother. We found a great shop that specialised in props and decorations, but no one had a car big enough to fit all the stuff in, so we hired a van from www.vanrentalnewcastleunderlyme.co.uk.

Driving To Cornwall

Posted on January 7th, 2011 by charlie

Travelling by train has become so expensive, it is just ridiculous. My family all live in Cornwall, and getting to them for visits has meant a big dent in my wallet. I started looking at alternatives as I really miss my family and don’t want to stop going to see them. I booked a coach last month for my visit, but I didn’t enjoy the journey on a cramped bus sat next to a very annoying boy with his earphones blaring out very loud music. I like to have relaxed journeys, so I decided that for my next trip I would hire a car. I asked around and most people told me that I should go with www.carhirestafford.co.uk.

Delicious Traditional Food

Posted on January 6th, 2011 by charlie

It’s interesting how eating habits have changed over the years. It can actually be quite difficult to find nice places to eat if you just want good old-fashioned and traditional English food.

My husband and I know exactly where to go if we want an Indian or Chinese takeaway. We know where to head for a decent pizza or pasta. We have our favourite Thai restaurant and our favourite place to go when we fancy some Spanish Tapas. But when my parents-in-law came to stay, and they wanted to go out for a decent roast, or a delicious plate of fish and chips, we were never sure where to take them.

Well, that was before we came across www.Traditionalrestaurantsstafford.co.uk. Here we found the perfect family restaurant to suit our needs.

Working For A Charity

Posted on November 9th, 2010 by charlie

I’ve just started at a new job working for a charity in their marketing department. I needed to think of new ways to get coverage and press for our company; so I tried to think of ways that we could let the public know about us without using the usual flyers in the post method. We decided that we would get an exhibition stand that we could use in local shopping centres in the area. A colleague suggested that we use www.exhibitiongraphicsstokeontrent.co.uk for all the exhibition graphics that we needed.  Read the rest of this entry »

Meet The Parents

Posted on August 26th, 2010 by admin

I have just got back from visiting my girlfriend’s parents for the first time in Stafford. We have been together for six months now and she invited me to her mum’s sixtieth birthday party. I was so nervous but I really didn’t want to refuse and look rude. I was just really worried that they wouldn’t like me and it would be awkward.  So I plucked up the courage and went with her to her hometown of Stafford for the weekend. The Dating Scene

Posted on August 26th, 2010 by admin

I have been single now for nearly two years. It’s not that I wasn’t open to dating people it’s simply that I didn’t get the opportunity to meet anyone new. I have a great circle of friends in Stafford where I live, both male and female. Only they’re all coupled up together.

I asked my close friend if she could think of why I find it so hard to meet someone. She agreed that the above does make it a little tricky. She had observed that I either go out with my sister or female friends and women think that I am with them.  Or, if I am out with the lads in bars  in Stafford I get really drunk. It would take a very confident woman to approach me in such a situation. Read the rest of this entry »

My Purfect Kitten

Posted on June 11th, 2010 by john

Purring with delight.

No, I haven’t gone mad, that is the sound of my new pet.

I got her recently at a pet shop in Stafford. I couldn’t resist her, she was the last kitten left out of a litter of six and she looked so lonely on her own that I had to take her. Read the rest of this entry »
