It’s interesting how eating habits have changed over the years. It can actually be quite difficult to find nice places to eat if you just want good old-fashioned and traditional English food.

My husband and I know exactly where to go if we want an Indian or Chinese takeaway. We know where to head for a decent pizza or pasta. We have our favourite Thai restaurant and our favourite place to go when we fancy some Spanish Tapas. But when my parents-in-law came to stay, and they wanted to go out for a decent roast, or a delicious plate of fish and chips, we were never sure where to take them.

I have just got back from visiting my girlfriend’s parents for the first time in Stafford. We have been together for six months now and she invited me to her mum’s sixtieth birthday party. I was so nervous but I really didn’t want to refuse and look rude. I was just really worried that they wouldn’t like me and it would be awkward.  So I plucked up the courage and went with her to her hometown of Stafford for the weekend. (more…)
