Choosing a nursing home for yourself is a very strange experience, let me tell you. I have been living in the house that I shared with my husband and my three children alone for the past ten years and I no longer enjoyed it. It is a sad fact of life that as you get older, your number of friends decreases. My best friend who I had known since we were little girls died a couple of months ago, and I decided that I didn’t want to stay in my big house all on my own. I started looking for a place where I could stay that would still offer me my independence, but also give me the scoial life that I crave. I have never really enjoyed shopping. I know that women are supposed to, but I always dread having to go shopping for anything: clothes, food, everything. When I moved into my new house my husband was more excited than I was about buying things for the inside of the house. He spent hours telling me about his design ideas and what kind of sofa and cushions he thought would look good. The only thing that I knew that I wanted was a pine table for our dining room.
