Building On An Argument

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

I have always had a dream home in my head, but I never actually thought that I would be able to build it! After looking for a house for my husband and I for two years, that’s right, two years, we had a big argument in which he said that ‘we may aswell build a house, you’re never going to find one you like!’. I took this outburst as permission to look for residential architects, and started enquiring about how much it would be to build a house rather than buy one. My husband indulged me for a while as he was certain that it would never work, but in the end it actually worked out as around the same price to build a house that we would really love. I found a great company to work with, www.residentialarchitectsbrighton.co.uk, and they offered fantastic advice and guidance.

Skip hire in Medway

Friday, February 11th, 2011

I was fairly strapped for cash when I opened my shop in Medway, so I went for fairly basic premises. It was cheap, which was good, but it was also full of debris and rubbish which had been left by the previous tenants, which I had to get rid of before I could get going in the shop.

I managed to enlist the help of a couple of friends and hired a skip from www.skiphiremedway.co.uk, so that I could load up everything I needed and get rid of it. (more…)

Office Extension

Sorry to spread doom and gloom, but did you know, asbestos is everywhere? When my employer decided to get building work done to extend the offices, they were clever and sensible enough to get an asbestos survey done.

I did not even know such a thing existed. They found a company at www.Asbestossurveysguildford.co.uk to check the building.

My finished home

Tuesday, January 4th, 2011

I’ve always been more of an outsourcer than a hands on type of person. When I was getting my house renovated, I organised all of the building companies who would do the work, and project managed rather than do any building myself. I even found a great skip hire company, www.skiphirecompaniescolchester.co.uk who would sort out all of the building waste for me. The house looked like a bit of a shell, and design has never been my strong point. I don’t have a very creative mind so whenever I try to design or decorate, it always looks a bit forced and not very stylish at all. I really wanted my house to look stylish and contemporary. I know what I like once I see it, but if you ask me to describe what I want, I don’t really know what to say. That is why I enlisted the help of www.interiorprojectmanagementtunbridgewells.co.uk.
