Headstone is important

Wednesday, November 2nd, 2011

When someone dies, you don’t realise just how many practical decisions there are to make. When my granddad died last year, my gran was bamboozled by all the choices she had to make. Some people enjoy throwing themselves into organising the funeral and so on, as it keeps them busy, but my gran just found it all too much to think about. One of the decisions she had to make was which headstone to choose. There were just so many different options. We used http://www.memorialstonesbromley.co.uk and they were brilliant. They helped my gran narrow down her choices by chatting to her about my granddad and what he was like. She found the headstone that suited and was pleased with her choice. It was really important that she got it right, as she will visit it often.

Pictures help with the memories

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

When my granddad died a few years ago, we realised we didn’t have one decent picture of all the family together. We didn’t even have that many really nice pictures of my granddad to put in frames in the house. All we had was a few rubbish family snaps – usually out of focus, with bad lighting or with people’s heads missing!

When my friend’s mum found out she had terminal cancer, I relayed my story and suggested they get some nice pictures taken of her. It was a sensitive subject, but they were really grateful. They contacted http://www.portraitphotographychelmsford.co.uk and found the right place to get some lovely portraits and family photographs taken. They were really pleased with the results.

Two very different projects

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

When my granddad died, the family asked me if I could be in charge of organising his funeral. I have had plenty of experience managing different projects, and although I have never had to organise a funeral before, they felt they could trust me to get everything under control. They had seen me manage work on my brother’s house recently in Sheffield and thought I did a good job. He wanted to have solar panels fitted to the roof, but did not have time to organise the work.

To be perfectly honest, once I found http://www.solarpanelinstallationsheffield.co.uk, the job took care of itself. My brother was very pleased with the price and standard of work and I had very little to do once they were on the case.

A green funeral

Tuesday, November 1st, 2011

My aunty had always been a great eco campaigner throughout her life, so when she died it was very important to her that she had a green funeral. I was very close to my aunty and she had always talked about the kind of funeral she wanted to have. She made a joke of it really, but underneath she was serious about wanting to follow her morals to the end. When we contacted http://www.funeraldirectorsbarking.co.uk I was quite surprised to find a green funeral was very possible. The company was very helpful and helped us make lots of decisions that ensured my aunt’s funeral followed her beliefs. It meant my aunty had the kind of funeral she wanted and we felt a sense of satisfaction in saying goodbye to her in a very personal way.

Inherited House

Wednesday, October 26th, 2011

We were all incredibly upset when my Great Aunt died, but we tried to stay positive and optimistic because we knew that it was what she would have wanted. She had been battling with illness for a long time and we knew that she hated losing her independence. She never had children of her own so she spoilt all of us kids up until the day she passed away. She was a very popular person within our commmunity so we knew that her funeral would have to reflect this. We went to http://www.funeralservicesbrentwood.co.uk/ for the funeral services that we needed and they were fantastic. They did every thing that they could to support us through the planning process and the funeral was a fitiing tribute to her memory.

Funeral services in Southampton

Monday, January 17th, 2011

My mum had been suffering from a serious illness for some time, so we’d all had quite a while to prepare for her death. She was very objective about it all. She’d accepted what was going to happen, and she was more concerned about making sure she had a good send off than the fact that she wasn’t going to be here much longer!

After she died and we started to plan her funeral we had a list of things she wanted to follow to the letter. She’d been very clear on the fact that she wanted an eco-friendly funeral with a biodegradable coffin and things. I knew that www.funeralservicessouthampton.co.uk could provide that, so I asked them to take on the funeral. (more…)
