I have to say that I am very unlucky when it comes to household appliances, but before you feel sorry for me I should be honest… I mainly break them myself. I don’t really know why, but I seem to think that I can fix everything myself. My brother is a trained gas engineer, and even though I know how long it took him to learn his trade, I still think that I know as much about boilers as he does. When my boiler broke a couple of weeks ago, I thought that I would be able to fix it myself, but as I stared at it blankly for an hour with a spanner in my hand, I had to admit defeat and call in the professionals. With a husband who works as a builder and four kids under the age of 10, you can imagine how stressed I was when my washing machine broke.
