My Grandad has lived down south for as long as I can remeber, but when my Nana died, he decided that he wanted to move back up to his home town of Pontefract so that he could be nearer to his family. Moving from St Ives to Swindon isn’t that far in the grand of scheme of things, but with all of the packing that came with it, you’d think that we were moving to Australia! My husband was offered a new job in Swindon, so we decided to take the leap and move. St Ives is lovely, but we felt like it was time for a change, and we knew that we could always come back if we wanted to. There was a lot of stuff that needed to be packed up and boxed, and it all took the best part of a week. It’s true when they say that moving house is one of the most stressful times in your life! It was a big step for my boyfriend and me when we decided to move out of our rented accommodation and buy a flat together. In January, I decided that this year would be the year that I really took my future into hand and changed my ways. I hadn’t been feeling very positive or optimistic for the last couple of years, but I realised that the only way that I could snap out of it would be by helping myself and making changes. I was really excited to finally leave my city life behind and move up to the Lake District. I have always wanted to live there, and now I have my chance.
