My brother and I were quite upset when our Mum told us that she was planning on moving to a small cottage and seeling the family home. We should have seen it coming as the house was far too big for her since my Dad died and she found living there on her own quite upsetting. Some work needed to be done to the house before it was sold so we called in www.structuralengineerssouthlondon.co.uk to come and assess it. My Grandad has lived down south for as long as I can remeber, but when my Nana died, he decided that he wanted to move back up to his home town of Pontefract so that he could be nearer to his family. One of my Grandads lives in Scotland, while the other one lives down South, but I still try and see them both as much as possible. Last month, I went to visit my Scottish Grandad, and took him to get some new glasses at www.eyecareblairgowrie.co.uk. They gave him a really thorough eye exam, and he said that he was really pleased with their service. His eyes are still very good, even though he’s in his eighties. His eyes are actually better than mine, and I’m 25!

I have been in a wheelchair for the past three years now, and it is a very difficult thing to get used to. I have tried to be very optimistic and not let it get me down, and carry on with my life as normally as possible. I have been living alone for twenty years now, and I have found that I even though I love living in my own home, I’m not sure whether I would prefer living with other people. I appreciate all of the help, but I was unsure of whether I would be willing to get live in care in case I had trouble with everything else in my life, including my personal care.

Our Grandad was the life and soul of the party, and we were all so upset when he passed away, but we knew that he had a good life, so we tried to celebrate his life as much as possible. His funeral was a fantastic testimonial to his life; it was full of people who had traveled from miles around to pay tribute to a wonderful man. The funeral directors who we used, www.funeraldirectorsleytonestone.co.uk, listened to everything that we wanted for the day, and worked with us to make sure that we had the perfect tone for the day.

My Grandma has been incredibly strong since we lost Grandad, but I have definitely noticed a change in her health. She has always been very active, but recently she has had difficulty getting around and completing all her errands. She is a very proud woman, but she admitted that she could do with a bit of help. I had a really bad fall outside of the supermarket a couple of weeks ago, and I had to have an operation on my hip that has meant that I can’t get round at home or look after my 18 month old daughter. I have done all that i can to make sure that my husband can get all of the care and help that he needs while I'm at work. He has MS, so he has to use a wheelchair sometimes. The first thing that I wanted to do was make sure that he could get up and down the stairs, so I looked online to find a company who could install a stair lift, and was lucky to find www.stairliftcompanyliverpool.co.uk. The only other thing that I needed to organise was for a home care company who could pop in on my husband very day while I was at work. My husband really appreciates the help and the companionship.

I think a lot of little girls think that their Dad is invincible, so it’s quite difficult when you see them getting older and more frail. My dad has always been so strong, but none of us can fight old age, and he has started to need a lot more help at home. He has been struggling with general day to day tasks, and I have a full time job so i can’t look after him all of the time. We have bought some equipment around the home to help him get around more easily, which have really helped, but he still needed someone to visit. I asked around my friends who also have elderly parents, and one of my friends suggested www.homecareservicesbristol.co.uk. They offer both live in home care services or they can offer less regular visits. We decided that the best thing to do would be to get a carer to come in the morning and afternoon, and I would come round to my Dad’s to help in the evening.
