I work at an advertising agency and we have to develop pitches all the time for current and potential clients. When my husband inherited a house from his Great Aunt we were both very surprised. She hadn’t been in touch for decades and my husband never expected to be the one who she left her house to. He felt quite guilty that she had been so kind to him and he hadn’t been in touch for such a long time. We decided to honour her memory by selling the house and making a donation from the proceeds to a charity.

Our new house has proved to be a bigger project than we first imagined. When we bought the house last year we knew that it needed a lot of work and attention, but we were naive to think that it would take a few months… it’s already taken a year! I work part time so I have been able to get quite a lot of the work done, but we also have two small children so my time at home is dominated by them most of the time. I have always been someone who tried to do as much as possible on my property myself. Over the years I have learnt a lot through trial and error and saved a great deal of money by doing the manual work myself. My last project was replacing the flat roofing on my sister’s house. I can’t believe that my little boy is going to ne 13 next week, time definitely does fly. I have planned a big surprise party for him with all of his friends and family at a town hall near where we live. I know that the last thing that most teenage boys want is to spend their birthday hanging out with their Mum, so I have a made a special area in the hall with game consoles for them all to play with during the party. My boyfriend has just moved in with me and we have had a couple of problems getting used to living together. I love my house and a lot of the things that niggle him about the property have always seemed to me as part of the charm of it. Our new house is great, but we have had a couple of hiccups since we moved in which we had to get over. Our first problem was our computer connection. They say that everything happens for a reason, but I would not have agreed with that 6 months go when I was involoved in a car accident. I wasn’t badly hurt but I was left very shaken up when another car went into the side of me at a busy roundabout.
