My Brother’s 30th

Posted on October 25th, 2010 by Chris

It’s my brothers 30th birthday in a few weeks and I really wanted to get him something which is a bit different and a little quirky like him!

I’ll tell you a little about my brother. He is very much into art and design as a hobby and works as a train driver through the day! I know, that’s a real contrast! He also loves his holidays and recently came back from a month long trip to Japan. I begged him to take me with me for weeks but seen as he was going with his girlfriend, he wasn’t having any of it!

I have been looking online and found a company that deal with poster printing www.posterprintingoxford.co.uk Read the rest of this entry »

Thinking About Filing An Accident Claim

Posted on October 19th, 2010 by Chris

It’s a fact of life that you can get injured at work. In all my work in construction, I am always aware of the dangers that could cause a personal injury. But last year the people I was working for didn’t give me the correct safety equipment which meant that I suffered a personal injury. I couldn’t go back to work for a while and I lost a lot of earnings so I knew I had to ask Personal Injury Solicitors Oxford if they could help me. They gave me a great service and I was really chuffed with the compensation that I received.

Boiler Problems?

Posted on October 19th, 2010 by Alex

Oh dear we are at that time of year again when rows kick off in all homes centering on the highly charged issue of the flicking the switch of the central heating! There is usually a camp wanting the heating on and a second group campaigning to save money. A friend of mine (male, of course) who had fitted a thermostat that was fake and hid the actual thermostat only to be changed by him! It’s often this time of year that boilers start faltering. This is when we require a good local boiler repairs firm. For this house that’s Boiler Repairs in Oxford. Read the rest of this entry »

Make Sure You’re Covered Abroad

Posted on October 1st, 2010 by Alex

Since my daughter had married an American and moved out from Oxford where we live to Minnesota, we had been planning to visit. Then she became pregnant with our first grandchild so we decided to book a holiday there for just after the baby was due.

My husband and I are pensioners in good health and couldn’t see why we shouldn’t take a long holiday in the States, to spend some time with our daughter and new grandchild. Read the rest of this entry »

Wayward Footballs

Posted on September 1st, 2010 by admin

I really enjoy the summer time, the warmth of the sunshine on your face as you relax outside in your garden with a good book and a cool beer, that was until me and my beautiful wife decided to have a child. We eventually had a boy and he is growing up fast. He is now 5 years old and even though I love him to bits there is never a nice peaceful moment in the house let alone the garden.

So when the summer arrives my son never stops and is always moving and wanting to play. So with all his energy I decided to buy him a football hoping that would burn all his energy. Read the rest of this entry »

Treat Yourself At A Day Spa

Posted on August 6th, 2010 by Alex

Why is it that whenever a big event or celebration is on the cards, my skin decides to flare up uncontrollably!?

I’ve heard a lot from friends about Day Spas in London and I really think that this could be the time to visit one.

Next week is my best friends wedding in London  and after months of planning to be a bridesmaid and looking forward to the day, my skin is looking very worse for wear.  So I decided rather than visit a Day Spa in Oxford, I would treat myself to a visit whilst in London. Renovating your kitchen

Posted on August 2nd, 2010 by admin

I chose my house in Oxford on the kitchen really – it was a lovely large area but unfortunately with a really disgusting fitted kitchen in place.

I’ve always loved cooking so I wanted to create my dream kitchen with a rustic charm to match the rest of the house.

An architect designed the kitchen and came up with the idea of using travertine tiles throughout the kitchen including brushed travertine tiles for the kitchen floor and tumbled travertine tiles for the splashback. Read the rest of this entry »

A Great Place To Cycle

Posted on July 2nd, 2010 by Daisy

This article in the Oxford Mail made me chuckle (despite the seriousness behind it of course).

“A cyclist became so fed up with theft in the city he used boltcutters to steal his own bike to see if anyone would notice. And nobody stopped him. Nine times”.

Climbing the sporting ladder in Oxford

Posted on June 11th, 2010 by Daisy

Apparently Oxford is one of the sportiest cities in the country. This is obviously pretty well aided by the student population, but a survey by Sport England reveals that over 20% of adults take part in regular activity.

We’re also helped, no doubt, by the parks and waterways, and you just had to look at the number of people punting in Oxford recently to know that we’re not averse to a little exercise. And boy that’s hard work!

People are very sceptical that the good weather will continue, but don’t give up if the rain appears – check out the health clubs or gyms in Oxford so you don’t lose that momentum…

Ever tried punting?

Posted on May 28th, 2010 by Daisy

Hopping on a punt along the River Cherwell is a pretty common pastime for residents and tourists alike in Oxford. Except maybe round by the bottle neck of Magdalen Bridge, it can be very peaceful and tranquil as you pass by the meadows and colleges.
