Starting afresh at uni and want to know where to find everything? Whether it’s tracking down bookshops in Oxford, locating your nearest supermarket or fancy dress shop, or decking out your new house with new furniture, cityvisitor is the place to find them.

Whether you are at Oxford or Oxford Brookes, we can help provide you with the information that you need for your new university life. University is a exciting and daunting part of anyone’s life. I remeber when I first went I was so nervous my teeth were knocking together. The thing you have to remember is that everyone is in the same boat, and everyone is as nervous as you are, it’s completely natural.

If this is your first time away from home then remember to stay safe and make sure that you get to know your surroundings and area. Halls of residence can be stressful as it might be the first time that you are living with a lot of people who you don’t know, but as long as you keep all of your stuff in order, then you’ll be fine.

On nights out make sure that you don’t get too out of control! There will be a couple of times when you might be a little worse for wear, but if you are new in an area that you don’t know, it’s really important that you stay with people that you trust who can look after you. Try and drink in moderation.

Wishing you luck for the start of term!
