I’m guessing that when most public consultations are launched, it doesn’t grab that many people’s attention. But for those who were actually affected by the flooding last year – or were very concerned that they were going to be – this is one you should definitely get involved with.

As the Environment Agency say, there’s nothing new about flooding in Oxford, but following the 2007 deluge, people are certainly more aware of flood defence plans and the risks of not taking action to help protect homes and businesses.

This is one of the biggest consultations yet, with proposals including a £100m flood channel as wide as the River Thames to the west of the city from Binsey to Redbridge.
