When our company had to downsize, we unfortunately had to cut our accountancy department. The recession has meant that we had to cut a lot of jobs, and weigh up whether outsourcing our accounts would be more cost effective than having an accountancy department. After saving up for a very long time, I finally had managed to save enough money to buy a new car. I love my old car but it is certainly become an old banger over the past couple of years. Banning junk food at lunchtime and introducing health food in a Nuneaton school has earned the staff and pupils a special honour.
St Joseph’s RC Junior School, on Coton Road is now the proud owner of a ‘Healthy Schools’ badge, which means it has been deemed to promote healthy attitudes to eating and exercise among its students.
As well as introducing health food, Nuneaton school St Joseph’s has added two hours a week of PE and games, introduced weekly PSHE lessons, and provided water fountains around the school.
Healthy Schools co-ordinator Giles Dance said: “We are delighted with the award and believe all our hard work has been rewarded.”
The healthy schools programme was set up in 1999 to promote healthy lifestyles among children.
