The weekend that my fiancé proposed to me was the most romantic weekend of my life. He whisked me away to a beautiful log cabin in the Forest of Dean. We spent the weekend walking and taking in the gorgeous scenery and the evenings in the our cosy cabin snuggled up by the fire. He proposed on the Sunday morning after bringing my breakfast in bed with the ring on the end of the fork. Beautiful.

Since we returned I’ve wanted to recreate that romantic atmosphere in our home in Northampton. It’s fairly nice and cosy as it is, but I thought a real wood burning fire would add that extra something. When I was househunting I was determined that I wanted a real wood burning fire. I had this romantic ideal of sitting in front of the fire with a glass of red wine and a good book every night with a blanket wrapped around me. Needless to say, that hasn’t happened once since I moved into the house, but at least I do have the fire!

I planned a party to celebrate my birthday about a year after I moved in.
