My old housemate was always very anti-television for some reason. There hadn’t been a TV in the house when we moved in, and he’d always been very much against getting an aerial installed. I tried to change his mind but eventually decided it wasn’t really worth the hassle.

I love my grandad, I really do, but sometimes I despair of how he gets by living in the modern age. He doesn’t own a microwave because he doesn’t trust them, he won’t get a cordless phone, as he can’t see why he would ever need one, and he won’t use the DVD player we bought him, because the idea that a film could fit onto something that small.

His TV is probably older than I am, and as I just celebrated my 30th birthday, you can imagine how well it works.
