I have been doing loads of work to my house and it\\\’s getting to the point where I can start thinking about the finishing touches, which is great. Goodwill Solutions, a business that source, re-uses and recycles furniture in Northampton, is one of the companies who have created a new hub where social entrepreneurs can grow their ideas.
The project has been created in conjunction with the University of Northampton and the award-winning company who work with furniture in Northampton. The ‘social enterprise hatchery’ opened at Goodwill Solutions’ Brackmills to a number of guests that included Northampton North MP Michael Ellis, council representatives and university staff. The William Shipley Centre, as the hub is called, is the first of its kind in Northamptonshire.
Thieves have been stealing bags full of items such as clothes and shoes in Northampton that were left for outside people’s houses for donation to the British Heart Foundation.
Gareth Julian, who is the BHF Area Manager said: “There have been a number of reports of bogus collectors operating in this area who are stealing stock bags which have been left out for collection. These collectors are working purely for commercial gain – none of the proceeds from the bags stolen will be going to charity. Stealing bags that have been left out for the BHF is akin to robbing people with heart conditions of a better quality of life.”

Police are advising that people who are interested in increasing their security in Northampton should not deal with telesales enquiries and cold callers.

The Royal & Derngate venues in Northampton are set to welcome the popular dance crew Flawless. They have been living the dream since competing in the ITV show Britain’s Got Talent, and they are touring in the hopes of inspiring other people to follow their dreams. Marlon Wellen, 26, put together the group after realizing a love of dance at a very early age: “I got into dance when I was about four years old,” he said. “I was into Michael Jackson and my mum was a big fan. I got into him through her. I would stand in front of the TV and try and copy his moves.”
My elderly father is finding living on his own difficult after my mother’s death last year. He doesn’t want to be a burden on us though and prefers to keep as much independence as possible. He does need some level of care and support though and we have been looking for domiciliary care in Northampton. £500,000 has been invested in the Northampton Borough Council managed Trilogy gyms. New top of the range gym equipment with built in TV screens will be included in the refurbishment money. There gyms will also be redecorated and there will be new flooring in Northampton council’s gyms.
