As the owner of a small company, we often use recruitment agencies as a way of recruiting our staff in an easy and stress free way. I think a lot of agencies are really good at vetting people before they get to the interview process. That way, it streamlines out a lot of the time wasters in the process. Which, when you’re a small company, makes a massive difference!

However, I’ve notice recently that recruitment agencies seem to be asking for more and more money in order to recruit the staff that we need to do the job. It’s fine for the bigger branded companies as their name speaks for itself and therefore candidates apply off their own backs, costing not funds to the company.

After going through a really difficult time in the recession, we had had to let some of our short-term workers go. It was a horribly difficult decision, but the business wouldn’t have survived without it.

I went to visit my grandparents who live in Milton Keynes at the weekend. I don’t get much chance to see them now as I live quite far away. I hadn’t realised how much I missed them until I saw them again. I stayed at their house and my grandma cooked me some lovely meals whilst I was there. I took them for a slap up lunch in one of the Cafes in Milton Keynes, we all really enjoyed it. In the evenings we played scrabble just like we used to do when I was little. This time it was accompanied with a few gin and tonics though.

My girlfriend used to go waterskiing at one of the clubs in Milton Keynes when he was younger and she said she’d like to get into it again. She told me that there was one of the clubs in Milton Keynes near where we live.

My mum has been separated from my dad for about a year now. She confessed to me that she was quite lonely and felt quite isolated. It saddened me to think of her as being unhappy.
