After a lot of success in my shop in Edinburgh, I decided to branch out and open a branch in London. It is of course intimidating opening a clothes shop in such a big city, but I really wanted to see if I could make it work in such a concentrated market. The supermarket where I work has had problems with security ever since I started. We are quite understaffed, so if there are any security issues, members of staff are expected to help catch the perpetrators themselves. If you are working at a checkout and someone runs out the door with stolen stuff, it is very unlikely that you will be able to catch the thieves in time. All of the staff went to the manager and said that we didn’t think it was fair that we were expected to help with the security and do our jobs. I always felt very safe in the complex where I work, that was until there was a robbery at the shop next door. We were all very shaken up and decided that for the safety of everyone who works in the shopping complex, we should invest in some security.
