Air con in Leeds

Posted on January 12th, 2011 by sam

My company recently moved to a new building in Leeds city centre. It was a great move for us as it meant we were much more central, but the building was like a huge greenhouse. It was stifling. Because of that we decided right away that we needed to get air conditioning in place. There was no way we could cope without it!

I did a lot of research into what would be the best company to use for the job. After all, it was my money which was being spent on the system. The best price I found was for www.airconleeds.co.uk, so I gave them a call back and asked them to come out and have a look at what we would need. Read the rest of this entry »

Indian restaurant in Leeds

Posted on January 6th, 2011 by charlie

My New Year’s resolution is to try every meal on the menu at my favourite Indian restaurant. I’ll have some more worthy pledges as well, like helping others and being less grumpy etc. But I am determined to work my way through all the curries.

The trouble with having a favourite restaurant is that you end up having a favourite meal as well, and then it is hard to try anything else on the menu. I discovered my favourite Indian restaurant at www.Indianrestaurantleeds.co.uk. I nearly always choose the same meal when I go there, even though there are so many other interesting dishes to try. I’m just stuck in my ways.

Winter Events in Leeds

Posted on November 12th, 2010 by Alex

The days are getting shorter, the car windows are getting frosty and the winter coat is out of the wardrobe… we can try and pretend it isn’t but winter is definitely on its way to Yorkshire.  There are two options available; we can either long for the summer gone by (although we didn’t really have what many warmer countries would class as a summer) or we can look forward to the events that winter in Leeds has on offer. Dazl Diamonds

It may surprise you, but before the First World War cheerleading was primarily a male sport and when the men left for war, women took on the sport as their own. The Leeds Primary Care Trust has decided to tackle obesity in children in the Leeds area in a new and novel way: by reclaiming cheerleading as a male sport.

A community care project called Dance Action Zone Leeds, which was set up to help boys in some of the most deprived parts of the city aims to use dance as a tool to improve young people’s physical and mental health. The scheme has produced Europe’s only troupe of boy cheerleaders on the Leeds housing estate of Belle Isle. Read the rest of this entry »

Northern Ballet

Posted on November 6th, 2010 by Alex

Leeds is the only English city outside of London that has its own repertory theatre, opera house and ballet companies. Now the Leeds-based Northern Ballet, formerly known as the Northern Ballet Theatre, has moved to a new headquarters at Quarry Hill in the centre of Leeds. Read the rest of this entry »

Interior Design in Leeds

Posted on November 5th, 2010 by Alex

I’ve just started work as an interiors expert, after giving up my previous career as a saleswoman. My first commissions have generally been friend’s rooms.

I work with my brother who’s a builder, and I’ve just finished a commission for a friend’s ensuite.

My friend wanted something very stylish and glamorous for her ensuite, so I thought travertine tiles would be just the thing. Unfortunately, I didn’t know any local suppliers, so I searched online for travertine tiles in Leeds. Read the rest of this entry »

Outdoor Travertine Pavers Leeds

Posted on November 5th, 2010 by Alex

I was keen to have a patio area built in my little garden, but I wanted something different from the decking that everyone seems to have nowadays.

I spotted some tiles called outdoor travertine pavers in a magazine I was reading. They looked beautiful. They were more expensive than decking, but I only had a small area available for the patio so I wanted to splash out.

I searched for local suppliers of outdoor travertine pavers in Leeds on the internet, and found a few specialists who dealt in these. Read the rest of this entry »

New Bars in Leeds

Posted on November 3rd, 2010 by Alex

Leeds is a fantastic place for a city break and the city is fast cementing its reputation as the capital of the North with a new array of bars opening in the city centre. The New Ellington Hotel has opened the city’s first gin bar, offering customers 16 different varieties of gin. The bar’s signature cocktail is the Rhubarb Aviator, a creative twist on the classic aviator cocktail, and making the most of Yorkshire’s indigenous rhubarb. Read the rest of this entry »
