An article in the Hull Daily Mail claims that 60,000 people will have missed appointments by the coming March if trends continue, and that will equate to £6.5 million!

The Hull and East Riding Hospital Trust has to make savings of £94million anyway over the next 5 years.

The Trust has said that they do of course take into consideration that people cannot make it in at times, or have been unable to let them know for genuine reasons, but its unlikely that the majority of these missed appointments are down to such circumstances – certainly not 60,000 people.

As is to be expected, they’re having the time of their lives treating passersby to a snowball or two and sliding down hills in dustbin lids. It really does make me wish I was back at school – or not at school as the case may be!

You only have to turn on the TV or open the newspaper to see that the country is in panic and the winter weather is causing chaos.

They kept things business as usual, despite the heavy snow, ensuring communities were looked after, Hull care homes were tended to and Hull schools were opened. They also cleared snow from roads and carried out shopping for elderly residents.
