It’s certainly a white winter. Schools across the country are closing their doors, leaving the country littered with children in bobble hats and snowman constructions on every street corner.
As is to be expected, they’re having the time of their lives treating passersby to a snowball or two and sliding down hills in dustbin lids. It really does make me wish I was back at school – or not at school as the case may be!
You only have to turn on the TV or open the newspaper to see that the country is in panic and the winter weather is causing chaos.
But when I read an article in the Hull Daily Mail about the hard working people of Hull I was very proud. Not to be defeated they are making every effort to ensure that the frosty conditions and a little bit of the white cold stuff doesn’t stop the world from moving round.
They kept things business as usual, despite the heavy snow, ensuring communities were looked after, Hull care homes were tended to and Hull schools were opened. They also cleared snow from roads and carried out shopping for elderly residents.
Even the Hull postmen managed to brave the frost and deliver the post – not sure I’d be able to do that myself!
