Bathrooms are such an important part of the home, and I would much rather spent my time in a long, hot bath than cooking in the kitchen. Now that I have my dream bathroom, I just love taking my time to get ready and enjoy the room that I love so much. I should have broken up with my boyfriend sooner!

The green, yes, green, suite nearly made me vomit every time I saw it. He couldn’t see the problem and thought I was being unreasonable when I put my foot down and said we needed a new one. Saying that he seemed pretty pleased when I found us one online for a really good price. Now we just needed someone to fit it. The new bathroom looks gorgeous. It’s all light and airy, and there’s not a weird green item of furniture in sight! I could happily spend all my time in there now, especially if it means avoiding the other boy parts of the house!

I mean, the tiles look so dated, they look like they could be vintage. Our bathroom furniture is definitely not pleasing to the eye, and having a carpet in our bathroom is meant to be unhygienic too. So, all in all, probably not the best bathroom going.

My husband is an electrician and whilst he’s good a manual work, I think doing our bathroom would be too much of a job alongside his other main clients. After he has had a big job on at the minute, we have some spare cash to finally spend on the bathroom and making it look luxury rather than lame!

I can’t tell you how excited I got when I saw all of the bathrooms that were available. Obviously, a lot of them were way out of our budget but it was definitely worth taking a look!

There are so many companies like www.bathroomdesignershemelhempstead.co.uk which offer lots of contemporary designed bathrooms with the latest bathroom technology too.

In fact, these companies probably offer too many options for my likening! If you’re an undecided person like me, you would struggle with choosing a bathroom out of such a big choice.

All of the companies locally deal with different bathrooms and installation often comes as part of the package now too. Whilst I was being nosey in the different show rooms, I couldn’t believe how many mod cons there were now! There were heated towel rails, fancy showers which squirted from all directions and those wet rooms are definitely to die for!

You see it on the television all the time where rich people have lovely bathrooms with snazzy flat screen televisions and free standing baths. I couldn’t help but wish I was getting one of those installed!

I don’t want to sound ungrateful or anything but it’s natural to admire and want things that you can’t have! Maybe if I work on my husband I’ll be able to butter him up for the television on the well though. He loves televisions so may not need that much convincing….now that’s an idea!

One of my wife’s requests was heated towel rails. As we live in North London, I searched on the internet for a supplier of heated towel rails in the North London area.  I didn’t get further than the first page of the search results, as there were several possible retailers.

Obviously, I let my wife choose the design. Luckily she didn’t choose the most expensive one.  They were able to supply it within the week as they had stock in their warehouse. My plumber friend came round and we started to plumb it in. I have to admit, it looked pretty good so I would definatly recommend the company that supplied us our heated towel rail in North London.

Two weeks later, and the whole bathroom is finished. My wife is over-the-moon. I didn’t realise how badly she had wanted her ‘sanctuary’ as she described it. Now, the kids and I are banned from leaving any mess in there. In fact, we know that it’s really ‘mum’s room’ now. I reckon she deserves it.

Whilst I have been getting giddy about bathrooms in Staines and looking at all the extravagant purchases that come with a bathroom such as heated towel rails, a wet room, free standing baths and luxury showers, my other half has been taking care of the somewhat ‘boring’ side of the purchase.

I think because our current bathroom is so dull, I am trying to settle for a more luxury, spacious boudoir and nothing less! I am considering paying for one of those free standing baths and claiming it as a lifetime investment! I reckon it would work out cheap per usage!

Well maybe I will have to do some major convincing for that to happen but I’m happy to settle for a standard bathroom for the time being. Anything has to be better than what we have at the moment!

It has these green coloured, patterned tiles which look like something from the 1900’s and on top of that, the bathroom furniture slightly represents a mouldy yellow colour. Honestly, as bad as it sounds…it is!

So, in effect, we are so overdue a bathroom update. So much that when we have friends around, I get them to use the downstairs, tiny bathroom to save their eyes! I must say though, our old bathroom has become quite the amusement factor in our household because it’s such a contrast to the rest of our house!

Bathroom Installations in Plymouth seem to be pretty generic. All in all, we just want a modern, quite neutral bathroom which is going to last. Well…I do have one demand and that’s a big bath!

We have a friend that deals with Bathroom Installations in Plymouth and he’s kindly said he will fit the bathroom for us at a mate’s rate! We were so impressed with the amount of bathrooms there were to choose from though; there must have been twenty in each shop alone.

After a wild goose chase around Plymouth, we finally picked a very contemporary and modern, nude coloured bathroom. I cannot tell you how nice it will be to have a nice bathroom.

To be honest though, I’ll be a little sad to see our horrid bathroom go, just because it’s grown into a bit of a known feature amongst our friends! I’m sure I will quickly get over that though when the new one arrives!

I’d heard about travertine tiles and an interior designer friend of mine suggested I used a combination of light travertine, noce travertine and silver travertine tiles to create the perfect design.

So I searched for travertine suppliers on the internet, specifically looking under light travertine, silver travertine and noce travertine. The company third from the top of the first results page had the best selection of travertine tiles I saw. They had a really well-designed website too, so I could see just how the tiles would look in situ.

When I showed my client the images, she was blown away. You could even buy a travertine sink!

The person who answered the phone was really knowledgeable about which tiles I would need for the shower walls and which would be better for flooring.

Finally, I put in my order. The tiles were beautiful when they turned up. Thankfully my design did them justice.

Now my client has a fantastic new bathroom and I have a couple of other jobs in the pipeline from impressed friends of hers.

I had dreamed about this day since the children were small and knew exactly what I wanted from my bathroom. I loved the natural stone tiles that I’d seen in several home magazines, and I wanted the builder to copy a beautiful bathroom I’d seen that had used noce travertine and light travertine tiles.

Today there are many different styles and products to choose from and this includes bathroom furnishings and bathroom suites as well as bathroom accessories. You should choose a style that is in keeping with the rest of your house. So if, for example, you have a Victorian property then roll-top baths and period sinks and toilets will look best. On the other hand if you have a modern flat then ultra-modern showers and travertine tiles can make a statement. For a luxurious feel towel radiators provide a nice touch, being both compact and a good way of heating your bathroom and drying your towels. They can be linked to the hot water system or the central heating system, require no maintenance and come in many different styles and heat outputs. If you want your towel radiator to heat your bathroom buy a large one and check its BTU requirements.

A large bathroom can be turned into a personal spa. Steam showers, rain bars, jetted bathtubs, towel warmers; the only limit is your imagination. Large bathrooms also have plenty of space for bathroom furniture. However, even if you have a small space you can still create a fantastic bathroom. Many companies produce compact baths, with sinks and toilets that will fit into a small space. If you have plenty of room you can have a separate shower cubicle, but if you are lacking in space then go for a shower that is over the bath and either a shower curtain or a glass shower panel. If you want to make your bathroom appear larger then go for light, cool colours for the trim and walls. Having an oversized mirror can also make your bathroom appear larger. All your bathroom accessories should be colour coordinated and this includes towels, shower curtains, storage bins, bath mats and rugs.
