My nephew came round to stay with my husband and I for the weekend when his mum and dad went away. It was the first time he’d stayed with us, and the first time we’d had any children anywhere near our brand new cream carpet.

We were on tenterhooks for the entire time he was there, watching him eagle-eyed so he didn’t spill anything. However, you could’ve bet money on the fact that the moment we turned away he would spill green poster paint on the carpet. We were mortified. My husband and I have just finished decorating the living room, it looks fantastic. We went for quite a minimalistic look with clean lines and light walls. It’s so good to have it all done and all the mess and chaos tided away. I can’t tell you how good it was to watch the TV in the living room rather than an eighteen inch one in the bedroom!
