My parents have had an old oak tree in the garden for years. It’s enormous, it must be hundreds of years old. When we were growing up my brother and I made a swing in it, and we used to climb the branches and sit up here chatting for hours.

When I went back to work after having my daughter, I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to keep my garden looking nice. I have always been a keen gardener but it’s hard to find time to look after it when you are busy. I don’t really fit in the world we live in today. When you watch the news and you see all the horrible things which go on, it should make you realise that there are some people in the world who are not very nice at all. However, I refuse to accept that people are not inherently good.

Most people don’t look forward to the whole moving process, but I really did. I felt like I was moving on with my life. I have recently got divorced and after my now ex wife moved out, I was still living in our old home. When you walk into our office you could be forgiven for thinking that you’d gone back in time. It’s very dated and very old fashioned. When I was growing up my mum was a big fan of Ground Force, so it was on in the house all the time. Unbeknown to me it planted a love of gardening in me that would lie dormant until I was in my late twenties.

When I moved from my parents house into my own place, I didn’t realise just how ill-equipped I was to look after a whole house by myself. I had no idea what to do if  a fuse blew, I didn’t know how to defrost a freezer, and tuning in a TV was something completely lost on me.
