I took over the family business when my father finally bowed to pressure from my mother and agreed to retire. It’s a small greetings card business with only a couple of employees.  Just recently, one of them became a nightmare. She never turned up for work on time and the quality of her work started to go drastically downhill. When questioned, she made no effort to explain herself.

Somebody asked me the other day what the difference was between commercial lawyers in Bristol and business lawyers in Bristol. I looked at her wondering what on earth she was on about but it turns out that the industry is so much bigger than I originally thought.

Having run a small pet shop for years, I am looking at selling the company and moving on to do something new. When I graduated many moons ago, I never imagined that I would be still wondering what I wanted to do at the age of 30! Being a little boy, I always wanted to be a doctor or a vet but not once did I think I would still be uncertain about my career.
