My husband and I had been looking to move house for a while. We needed more room than we had at our place, and the layout of the rooms left a lot to be desired as far as we were concerned.

The problem was that when we looked around we couldn’t find anywhere which jumped out at us as the perfect home.

We decided to have a look into buying some land and building out own new house to our own specification, or maybe even just extending the house we had here, but we didn’t really know where to start.

I have just graduated as a Chartered Architect. It was now time for the daunting task of finding a job and actually doing some work. I was surprised to find quite a few jobs for Chartered Architects in Leicester, near where I live.

I got a couple of interviews but didn’t get them. The feedback was lack of experience. I find this difficult to get my head around. How do I get the experience if no-one gives me the chance to gain it? I have obviously done lots of work experience whilst at University. I started to feel a bit deflated, after all the studying and hard work, could I actually make a career out of being a Chartered Architect in Leicester? (more…)
